The 2nd National Festival of Shams and Rumi

West Azarbaijan/ Khoy, Shams Tomb/ August 1st to 9th

Level: National

The National Festival of Shams and Rumi is held to produce artworks regarding Shams and Rumi. Many artists from around the country are participating in this festival in three sections of Music, Poetry and Graphic. The festival is held in Khoy City where the tomb of Shams is located.

National Day of Persian Constitutional Revolution

East Azarbaijan/ Tabriz/ August 4th

Level: National

The commemoration of Persian Constitutional Revolution is held annually on August 3rd/4th/5th. Along with several artistic programs and speeches on the subject in the House of Constitutional Revolution in Tabriz. The family of Constitutional Revolution members, provincial authorithies, and artists and researchers in this area gather to celebrate this day and emphasize the important role of Tabriz in the Constitutional Revolution in Iran.

International Conference of Safavid Studies

The International Conference of Safavid Studies is held to promote and revive the Iranian-Islamic spirit at the presence of researchers and academics from Iran and foreign countries in Ardabil. The special meetings and workshops are held alongside the conference.

The 3rd National Festival and Exhibition of West Azarbaijan

The 3rd National Festival and Exhibition of West Azarbaijan is held at the presence of cultural groups, artistic teams, tourism activists and Head Offices from different provinces in two Sections: the exhibition and the ceremonies. In this event, the tourism potentials and capacities of different provinces are introduced. The artists and craft workers from around the country can present their traditional artworks at the exhibition.

National Festival of Iranian Pottage

The National Festival of Iranian Pottage (Aash in local language) is the oldest food festival in Iran that attracts many tourists and enthusiasts from around the country every year. There is also a handicraft bazaar, presenting various craftworks made by artists from different tribes in Iran. In this festival, various Iranian tribes are invited to Zanjan to set up their big pots and make their traditional pottage and present their ceremonies and rituals.

Movable Exhibition of Saadabad in East Azarbaijan Province

The Movable Exhibition of Saadabad include high copies of significant artworks from the Fine Art Museums, Kelara Abkar, Mir Emad, Master Behzad, Master Farshchian, and potteries of the Islamic Period borrowed from Melat Museum, Torkmen jewelry borrowed from Art and People Museum and some artefacts from Utensil Museum, presented in different provinces at various occasions.

The Commemoration of Allame Tabatabaii is held by the National Museum of Quran and Neirizi and Kufi calligraphy Quran are unveiled during this event.

Exhibition for Moharamat Carpets

Level: National

In this exhibition, carpets with Moharamat pattern are presented. In Moharamat pattern (design) the entire text of the carpet is divided vertically into several parallel rows. Inside the rows, motifs like paisley, arabesque, heliotrope, or other vegetal designs are weaved. On other words, Moharamat Carpers have stripped designs. Paisley Moharamat is the most famous design for this kind of carpet, which is also known as Ghalamdani in some regions of Iran.

Tazieh (Tasua and Ashura)

Kermanshah/ Moaven Al-molk Tekyeh/ August 29th and 30th

Ta’zieh Ceremony is held in 20 morning boards in Kermanshah Province, 10 of which are located in Kermanshah City. Ta’zieh ceremony is held in bigger morning boards like Moaven Al-molk Tekyeh (mourning places in Iran), Bigler Bigli Tekyeh, Parva Town, Shahyad Neighborhood, etc. Kandooleh Village is also another popular venue for holding Ta’zie ceremonies each year.

Tasua and Ashura Mourning Ceremonies

Yazd/ Throughout Yazd Province/ August 29th and 30th

Level: International

Every year, hundreds of foreign tourists come to Yazd Province in order to participate in tradtitional mourning ceremonies of Moharam. They watch Tasua Night ceremonies of Yazd people in Khoydak Village and come to Hazireh Mosque in order to watch the Tasua Noon rituals. At Tasua Evening, the religious tourists gather in Shahzadeh Fazel Hosseinieh and Mola Ismail Mosque to participate in the ceremony of cooking wheat pottage. Sefid Ashkdez Hosseinieh, Mazvir Abad in Mehriz, Kooshk-e No in Ardakan and Shah Vali in Taft are among the other destinations of these tourists. The Ashura Evening ceremony is held in Amir Chakhmaq Square in Yazd, which is the biggest mourning ceremony in this province.

The 2nd Festival of Folklore Music

North Khorasan/ Bojnurd/ Late August and Early September

Level: National

In this event, the best folklore music bands from around Iran gather and present their music in 4 nights. The first event of this festival was held in Besh Ghardash Park, Baba Aman Park and the Amazement Park of Bojnurd. This festival can pave the way for introduction and promotion of folklore music.

Grape Festival

The Grape Festival is held in Sisakht City in order to introduce the rituals of the people, potentials and tourist attractions, handicrafts and ecotourism in this city, with an emphasis on their grape crops and its products.

On the verge of Tourism Week in Iran, the Tourism Short Film Festival will be held in Golestan Province. Young filmmakers in tourism area will present their works during this festival.

The Special Conference of Registering Natural Heritage is held to identify and introduce the natural heritage of Iran in a national level and attract the attention of authorities to preserve and protect these heritages from any harm and violation. The conference will be held in the Deputy of Cultural Heritage in the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts in Tehran.
